The actual model number is of little or no importance. Sigma guitars are very nice entry level, backup or stage instruments. There is a lot of unfounded praise levied at these instruments, mostly because of their association to Martin. Most owners think they're more valuable than they truly are. Sigma's made in Japan from 1970 through 1979 used a paper label to identify the model and serial number of the instrument. The earliest examples had a plain black on white inner paper label giving the model and serial numbers. Later one's (c1972 onward) had white labels that had gold lettering with a border, often reddish-brown or purple in color.

Hi I bought an used Sigma-Martin guitar from a friend becouse it sound beautiful! I would like to know if anybody could help me to date this guitar
The model is CG- 1ST or CG-IST (it´s dificult to read) and serial number is:
99090007 - Made in Korea.
